ReviewInDetail ("we", "our") operates reviewindetail.com. This policy describes what data is collected when you visit, why, and the choices you have. The short version: we run no accounts, no newsletters, and no comment system — the data story here is analytics (consent-gated where required by law), our own click counting, plus the cookies Amazon sets when you follow an affiliate link.
What We Collect
Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which reviews and guides people find useful — page views, approximate location (city level, estimated from your IP address, which Google then discards), device type, and how you arrived at the site. Analytics runs under Google Consent Mode: where regional privacy law applies (including the EU/EEA and UK), analytics cookies are not set unless you consent through the banner, and declining keeps them off. We also honor the Global Privacy Control browser signal.
Click measurement. When you click a product link, we also log the click in our own systems — which product and page, the time, your browser type, and a one-way-hashed form of your IP address used only to de-duplicate counts. This log contains no name, no account, and no purchase information.
Server and security logs. Our hosting and CDN infrastructure (including Cloudflare) processes IP addresses and request metadata to serve pages, cache content, and block abuse. These operational logs are not used to profile visitors.
Nothing else. We do not run user accounts, store payment information, operate a newsletter, or collect personal information through forms. If you email us, we see what you send and use it only to respond.
Affiliate Links and Third-Party Cookies
When you click a product link to Amazon, you leave our site and Amazon's own cookies and privacy practices apply — including the cookie that attributes a qualifying purchase to us as an Amazon Associate (see our Affiliate Disclosure). We receive item-level order reports from Amazon — which products were ordered and the commission earned — but never who ordered them, or any personal details about purchasers.
Your Choices
- Consent banner: where shown, you can decline analytics entirely; the site works identically either way.
- Browser controls: blocking or clearing cookies does not affect any site functionality.
- Data requests: to ask what data we hold about you, or to request deletion (in practice: analytics data governed by Google's retention settings, and any email you've sent us), write to [email protected]. We respond to all requests, including those under GDPR and similar laws.
Data Retention
Analytics data is retained per Google Analytics' standard retention controls and is not exported into other systems of ours. Correspondence is kept only as long as needed to handle your request.
