In our test for particulate air purification, the Dyson Pure HP04 performed solidly. The air purifier was able to capture 95% of polluted microparticles after 60 minutes of usage on the maximum speed setting.

The odor test
We burn sticks of incense completely in a 430 sqft (40m²) room. Afterward, we started the Dyson Pure Hot + Cool HP04 and let it purify the air for about 75 minutes at maximum speed. It very quickly detects changes in the air and notifies you of the changes in the app. After that, we checked the odor inside the room at 5-minute intervals.
Conclusion of the odor test
The air purifier did not perform at its best here. The Hot & Cool has needed over 35 minutes until the intense odor of the incense stick was removed by the air filter.
After about 25 minutes, the strong odor of the incense stick has strongly diminished. After 40 minutes, the odor was hardly noticeable.
Laboratory tests for the Dyson Pure HP04 Hot + Cool

We have always operated the air purifier at our home in automatic mode and were consistently satisfied with the performance.
The sensors have a high sensitivity to the type of air pollutant.
For instance, the air purifier automatically turns up the fan setting when we used spa products (such as deodorant) in the bathroom. The Dyson Pure HP04 Hot + Cool detected the air changes even in another room and reacted to the change in air quality that occurred accordingly.

In this mode, the air purifier monitors the air in real-time as in automatic mode and reacts accordingly to the air quality. Additionally, the device turns off the display light and turns down the fan setting as much as possible. The Dyson Pure HP04 as a smart home device – Operation, function, and app.
The Dyson air purifier can be easily controlled via an app, remote control, or a voice assistant (currently only Amazon’s Alexa and Apple’s Siri).
Control via remote control
The remote control has a permanent place on Dyson’s air purifier. It is magnetically attached to the top of the tower for practical storage. The remote control allows you to control the Dyson air purifier comfortably when you are in the room. Its remote control includes all the functions of the Dyson air purifier. And some of these functions come with a pre-configured scope. For instance, the rotating motion comes with the following pre-set angles:

Sometimes, depending on where you live, the air quality outside can be a concern, but thanks to the Dyson Pure HP04 Hot and Cool air purifier, your 4 walls are usually in the green zone.

You can see the condition of the filters as well as the service life of the filter units in the filter management. You can also see which filters are installed in your air purifier.

At the moment, voice control for the Dyson Pure Hot + Cool air purifier only works with Amazon’s Alexa or Apple’s Siri. We tested the voice control with Alexa and Siri for the functions. The Dyson air purifier can be completely controlled via voice assistants. Besides that, you can also get information about the air quality. Based on our experience, the voice control for the Dyson Pure Hot and Cool was the best we have tested so far.
Care and cleaning of the Dyson air purifier
The Dyson Pure Hot + Cool has sensitive sensors to measure the air quality. To ensure that the measurement accuracy and thus the high quality of the air purification is not affected, you need to check the sensors at regular intervals and clean them if necessary.
Also, the air inlets of the device, as well as the air outlets should be cleaned regularly. But the maintenance effort is minimal and done very quickly.
